Thecar has a transversely located 2.2-litre mHawk engine and a new transaxle,specifically developed for the XUV500 entirely from scratch. The geartransmission is a novelty as well with five and six speed options made withassistance from Ricardo. The engine will have a power of up to 120 to 140 bhpwith torque of 32.6 kgm. Then there are the surprise elements like the tractioncontrol, ESP, hill descent control capable of handling any terrain. TheXUV 500 will make its debut in India and South Africa and is later slated forreleases all over the world. The car will simultaneously come in both two wheeland four wheel drive options. The XUV500 till date can be held as Mahindraslitmus test product. The car will be positioned above the Scorpio and it couldcost around Rs 13 lakh for the base 2WD version.
