DescriptionA position as an Electrical and Instrumentation Technician has become available in our Maintenance Department.The successful applicant must be able to perform the following tasks:Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, calibrate, alter/modify and make installations to the facility’s electrical and instrumentation systems, in a professional and timely fashion, as required.Determines the impact of work communicates to department management and customers to schedule activities to reduce impact on production schedules.Work with users, other facility staff and vendors to provide electrical and instrumentation expertise and to evaluate the effectiveness of systems in order to ensure the safe, efficient and reliable operation of facilities and for continuous improvements.Work from blueprints, drawings, schematics or other specifications in order to effectively troubleshoot, maintain and repair equipment.Troubleshoot, maintain, adjust, repair, calibrate and install all types of electrical and instrumentation equipment having complex interlocking or inter-related circuits (i.e. Distributed Control Systems, PLC’s, controllers, electronic circuits, motors, or other transmission equipment).Install, maintain and repairs facility lighting systems.Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, calibrate, alter / modify pneumatic control systems.Improvise acceptable temporary alterations to allow continued safe operations.QualificationsHigh school diploma, GED or equivalent.Current Ontario Industrial Electrician and/or Construction and Maintenance Electrician License (309A or 442A Journeyperson).Apprenticeship or college diploma in instrumentation.At least five year experience in electrical instrumentation and control system maintenance.Experience in a large-scale manufacturing and/or continuous process environment is an asset.Computer literate; In-depth knowledge and experience with Distributed Control Systems (APACS and DeltaV) highly desirable.Strong verbal and written communication, organizational and planning skills.Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and to adapt quickly to changing priorities.Highly flexible, proactive and self-motivated.Strong attention to detail developed analytical and troubleshooting skills, ability to work well under pressure.Willing to participate in skill enhancement programs.Demonstrated commitment to safety and the environment.Strong customer service orientation.Work Conditions/Schedule:Able to climb stairs and ladders on a regular basis; work at heights and work in dusty environments.Able to work outdoors and in all weather conditions.Able to lift at least 50 lbs.Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.Able to operate basic mechanical, electro-mechanical and electronic (computerized) controls safely and efficiently.Overtime as required; ability to work any shift including weekends as required.
