Developers of a 26-story luxury apartment building inBoston,on the edge of Chinatown, have said that they will begin construction ofproject within the next few months.This building will be the latest addition toa list of apartment buildings that are currently getting built across the city.Thisconstruction project, managed by one of the leading developers in the country,will potentially provide 240 Luxury Apartment Boston.There will also be a newrestaurant built on the site of the presently vacant Dainty Dot building at 120Kingston Street.The demolition of the existing Dainty Dot is expected to beginin a few weeks time and the construction of the new apartment tower is expectedto start shortly afterward.The project developers are optimistic about beingable to lease the building out to residents by the spring of 2014 at theearliest.The project developer had initially planned to build a mix ofapartments and condominiums on the site but has decided to change the buildingplan to include only apartments.The building, which will include a range ofunits from studios to three-bedrooms, had initially been approved in the springof 2008.However, its progress was halted because of the financial issuesplaguing the developer due to the economic recession.There were also someconcerns about the design of the building.The building was designed by areputable company which has handled similar projects before.They planned forthe materials to feature a mix of glass, granite, and concrete.When interviewedby the media, a principal of the development company remarked that once theexisting building has been removed, the Boston people will be able to walkaround a well-lit and lively site instead of a dark unattractive one.The $130million project will also contribute about 2,200 square feet of outdoor spaceto the Chinatown section of the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway.The park willbe widened significantly as a result which residents are pleased about.The newbuilding will also feature a large outdoor patio connected to a 5ArticleSearch,000-square-foot restaurant.The construction project was jump-started bythe involvement of a Cleveland-based firm.This firm will be making its Bostondebut with this building.The firm is a national developer that has beenoperating in the region since 1984 and it has headed multiple prestigiousprojects.The head of Cleveland-based firms Boston office has said that thelatest construction project will hopefully become a gateway to the citysFinancial District.He also said that this project would likely increase thevisibility and use of Chinatowns section of the Greenway.This could potentiallymake Boston a more viable place for people looking to purchase homes to live inas opposed to renting.
