As hard working women, we spend a lot of time in our offices. With so many responsibilities and so little time, its easy to let things get out of control. If you saw my office a few years back, you wouldnt believe your eyes! I had books, magazines, reports, and sticky notes all over my office.I had my desk positioned with my back facing the door and was always surprised when someone startled me from behind. It got to the point where I just couldnt take the office clutter and negative energy anymore! So I decided to do something about it and got help from Chinese Feng Shui. What is Feng Shui? Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese system of orientation and aesthetics. It is thought to use the laws of Heaven and Earth to bring balance and positive energy to a space. Positioning objects and arranging a space in an auspicious way attracts good qi and deflects the bad. This enables a healthy and healing atmosphere. The following tips are the steps I took to improve my workspace into a more efficient, organized, and productive environment.Enhance the energy in your office by following these Feng Shui tips! Position your desk so you face the entryway. This is important because it clears the way for good qi and lets you relax without the anxiety of people coming up behind you. If placing your desk in this way is impossible because of the structure of your office, put a mirror up on the wall in front of you so you can see the doorway in the mirror. This way, you will be able to see people come in and you will also attract good qi into your space.Clean up the clutter. Working on a cluttered desk and workspace makes it harder to focus and be efficient. It throws off the balance of energy and slows down productivity. Organize all files, papers, and magazines. Throw away anything you dont need and will never use. Dust your furniture weekly. Shred papers daily to avoid paper clutter. Invest in filing cabinets, desk organizers, and create a system for all your paperwork with binders for easy access.Clear overhead shelves. Heavy objects over your head can lead to headaches and present risks for physical injuries. In Feng Shui, this also creates downward energy, which can literally cause weight on your shoulders.Place a live plant in your office. Plants emit oxygen which will boost your brain power. They also bring nourishing energy into your workspace. If possible, position two plants on either side of the doorway. This will bring optimal good energy and qi.Put some pictures up. Put up some pictures so your office looks decorated, but not cluttered. A few nice landscapes will bring a peaceful aura to your office. Pictures of water such as lakes, rivers, and oceans are good in the office as they represent career. Place these pictures on the wall of your doorway.Light it up! Commonly, the only light source in many offices are overhead fluorescent lights. Place some supplemental, incandescent lighting like table or floor lamps in your office. This will bring relief to your eyes and make your work area more comfortable.Cover it up. If you have one or more glass walls, get some blinds to give yourself some privacy. This will ease your worries about everyone looking at what youre doing and give you a sense of security.Add some color. White is considered a dull, stark color. Add some reds, purples, blues, greens, or yellow. This will lift the mood and promote good business!Get a waterfall or a fish. Water is a very important element of Feng Shui. It is believed to bring money and wealth. Offices located near running water are considered to be blessed with good luck. If you dont have that, bring water to your office. Waterfalls are beautiful, but if a waterfall is too big of an expense, consider getting some fish. Fish provide living energy that can revitalize your workspace.I hope these tips help you improve the Feng Shui and energy of your workspace. I know they helped me!
