Paper folders make everyday office life a lot easier but you can still run into problems when using one. These are the three most common problems you may experience as well as some information about how to fix them. The first problem: the machine doesn't start even when you press the "Start" button. This is actually a pretty common problem and although it's a frustrating one, it's pretty easy to fix. The first thing you should do is make sure your paper folder is plugged in. You should also make sure the cord is securely attached to the device. If things look good, the machine might be jammed. Open up the folder to see if there are any misfed sheets in it. If so, remove them and things should be fine. Should you not be able to use the machine at all, check the instruction manual for more troubleshooting options or call a service technician. The second problem: the paper isn't being properly fed into the device. Another common problem occurs when the folder won't feed paper the right way. This is one of the more frustrating situations you can run into with your paper folder and unfortunately, it will probably happen to you at some point. For one thing, the ink might still be wet when you try to fold your printed documents. Wait until the ink is dry before feeding them into the machine. (Making sure the sheets are jogged can also be helpful.) Also, some of the device's interior parts might be dirty. Take a look and make sure that the parts aren't dusty, etc. If they are, you can wipe them clean with a damp, soft cloth. (It's important to unplug the machine before doing this so you don't end up electrocuting yourself.) Finally, make sure there's enough paper in the feed tray before you start folding. If there aren't enough sheets in the tray, problems can arise. The third problem: your folded documents are wrinkled. Unfortunately, you might have to deal with wrinkled documents at some point. The best way to prevent this from happening is by only folding documents with dry ink. Also, you should check to see if the folding plates are misaligned. If this happens to be the case, the machine's instruction manual will probably have directions on how to get them back where they should be. The plates may also be dirty, so clean them if necessary. Finally, jogging your paper before placing it in the feed tray will ensure that it's fed through the device smoothly. You can either jog the sheets yourself or use a jogging device. The choice is up to up to you. Those are three of the common problems you may experience when using a paper folder. These problems aren't difficult to deal with so you should be able to take care of them on your own. Just remember to place an adequate amount of paper in the feed tray, clean the folder if necessary, and to only fold your documents if the ink is dry. Good luck and happy folding!
