Followinga visit to Germany in 1998 Charles Salter realised it was clear thatadvances in communications technology could, and should be availableto lift companies of all sizes. Communications, on every level, hadbecome a key element in our society. From the successes of the mobilephone and satellite communications to the phenomenal advancement ininternet and e-commerce technology. Charles Salter questioned whatbenefit these advancements could provide and the answer was remotecommunications, power at a distance. CharlesSalter considered a system that applied the same concept to the liftindustry, revolutionising the way in which systems were monitored, managed and maintained. In many parts of Europe, telephone lines hadbeen installed in lift cars for communication purposes for a numberof years, however their potential was barely realised. Building onthis Ace Lifts ensured that the U.K. lift industry could capitaliseon the techonological developments. Whilstremote monitoring was not new to the lift industry, it was generallyconsidered to be too expensive to be accessible to the independentlift companies. Whilst Charles Salter was in Germany, he saw a systemin operation that utilised communications for the monitoring ofeverything from lift performance, to oils levels. It was a DOS-basedsystem, that allowed the surveillance of lifts from a remote location(in this particular case, the lift Co.'s office). The resultingsavings in liftmaintenancelabour costs were so high, the considerable savings were simplyshared with the customer. Ultimately, the development of the ACElogger was inspired by the benefits of the German method. AceLifts perfected the system, developed a practical, powerful and userfriendly system, using up-to-date technology, allowing completeremote lift monitoring and control, and made it available to all.Since telephone lines were made a legal requirement, for publicsafety, it seemed an obvious step to capitalise on that development. AceLifts designed a system which offered and still offers today theindependent lift company advanced remote features at an affordablecost, whilst using existing lines. AceLifts provide liftinstallation, maintenance, liftservicingand control services.
