When using the Fastback model 25 Photobookbinding machine the default settings will work for many applications.However, certain binding requirements may prompt you to adjust themachine's settings. You can do this in the User Menu. To access theuser menu simply press the Open and Edit button at the same time. Youcan do this with or without a document in the binder. Once you haveaccess to the User Menu on the machine you can adjust six differentsettings including: BIND TIME, STRIP END, SET WRAP and MORE OPTIONS. Changing The Bind Time: This feature allows you to increase ordecrease the total bind time. You can add up to 15 extra seconds forhard-to-bind paper. You can also decrease the default bind time by 5seconds when required. However, unless a certain weight or type ofpaper is found to be more difficult to bind, it is not recommended toadd or subtract seconds to the bind time. 1.After selecting the BIND TIME menu feature, the default message is "+00 SECONDS." 2. You can now adjust the bind-time in five-second increments. Add timeby pressing the EDIT button. Decrease bind time by pressing the OPENbutton. 3.When you have finished modifying the time, press the BIND button. 4. Insert the correct width strip, and the Fastback® will bind yourdocument in the amount of time that has been selected. During binding,the screen briefly displays the changed bind-time. Setting the Strip End Position: When you bind a book with the Fastback 25, the end of your bindingstrip should align with the edge of your document. However, it ispossible that you may occasionally adjust your machine if you have astrip that doesn't quite align with the top of your book. If you have astrip that is a little bit short or extends a little bit past the edgeof your book you can correct future strips by adjusting the endposition on your machine. 1. To adjust this feature you will need to choose the STRIP END featureon your machine. Once you enter this menu you can move the end of thestrip in increments of eight one thousandths of an inch at a time ineither direction. 2.The OPEN button on the Fastback 25 moves the strip position left; the EDIT button moves the position to the right. 3.After you have finished setting the strip end, press the BIND button to save your setting. 4. Now you can insert a new strip into the binding machine. During thebinding process a message will flash on your screen to remind you thatyou have changed the strip end position setting. Setting the Wrap For PhotoPro Strips: The Strip Wrap feature allows you to change how far the PhotoPro stripwraps around the spine of your book. The default setting on theFastback 25 is to have the strip centered on your spine. This meansthat the strip should wrap around your document with the same amountshowing on the front and back of the book. However, if you want adifferent look for your documents you can change this setting with the"SET WRAP" menu. You can make the strip wrap more on the front or moreon the back. You can also adjust the wrap if you discover that thePhotoPro strips aren't wrapping evenly. 1. Press the BIND button on your Fastback 25 to select the "SET WRAP"menu. You can now select the binding style that you are using. 2. After choosing your binding style , the default setting should showon the LCD. Normally the machine should be set to Even Wrap. However,if you want to change this you can use the Open and Edit buttons toshift the strip towards the front or back. The Open button shifts thestrip backwards and the edit button shifts the strip towards the backand the edit button shifts the strip towards the front. 3. After you have adjusted the wrap for your strip, press the BINDbutton. The next time you go to bind a document the machine will flasha brief message to remind you that you have changed this setting. Thatway you know to go and change it back if your application changes. 4. One other option that you will find in this menu is the ability toset the wrap so that the least amount possible wraps onto the front ofthe cover. This feature is called minimum front wrap. In order toactivate this feature you simply need to scroll the wrap past negativeseven and the screen will display "MIN FRONT WRAP". Choosing More Options: The MORE OPTIONS menu allows you to customize various Fastback® bindersettings. To enter this menu, select "MORE OPTIONS" from the SpecialFunctions Menu. Once here, choose from SET DISPLAY MODE, SET SLEEPMODE, FACTORY DEFAULTS and EXIT?
