Edinburgh, Scotlands capital is indeed competition to the city of London as it is considered a city of design witnessed from its period architecture and historical buildings. Evidence of the same is seen in the enormous conservation architectural projects that have made this city indeed more beautiful and to watch for on the design scenario. Steeped in history, Edinburgh provides the fodder and is the fertile ground for architects who can engage in some world class restoration works of heritage buildings. Architects of Edinburgh are a commune of highly talented professional architects who have taken the sole responsibility of restoring the past glory of this beautiful city. Passionately driven to work on their pieces of art and strengthen them and repair and maintain the façade to its original state, the Architects of Edinburgh are a highly talented and skilled group. They apply the techniques and knowledge of modern architecture while being highly respectful of the work done by their fraternity in the past. Even if a new element has to be introduced to restore a broken or damaged area of the heritage site, they will ensure that the work is done in such a skilled manner that it unites with the old form and looks a part of the old. The foremost purpose of their work is to revive history of the building, strengthening it and renewing the look and feel to what it was when it was built.Architects of Edinburgh have been involved in several projects that are famous for making Edinburgh win recognition as a city of design. Some of the famous ones are the plain Ashlar façade of 87 West Bow, the West Bow Projects and 3 and 7 Lennox Street. The heritage project of plain Ashlar façade of 87 West Bow is a part of the 1827 Improvement Plan undertaken by Thomas Hamilton. This project was undertaken for removal of an old painted signage for which a complete cleaning process was conducted coupled with some indenting of stone. Besides this some lead work was done on the roof and slater work was conducted too. The façade of the famous jewelry store Clarksons Edinburgh underwent re-designing during this project. The temple tenement above shop 89 was water washed and brushed to make it dust free from the particles and deposits gathered by the wind. The façade which was originally with rubble was repaired to match the new stonework on the windows. Roof was restored and the rear façade was also worked on. The shop front of 89 West Bow also underwent a redesign and restoration work. Another striking structure is Crocket's Land c. 1709 located at 91 West Bow which was worked on by the Architects of Edinburgh. The building needed rework on its flight which was ridden with holes, on its gable head chimney and its stone window bands. The entire frontal of the building was redone and painted with Keim. This project is a jewel in Edinburghs crown winning it the Saltire Society Commendation.
