Overview: The GBC Proclick ProntoP2000 is an automated binding system designed to finish documents withGBC's new Proclick binding strips. The P2000 does not includea punch. Instead, it is designed to be paired with one of GBC's modularinterchangeable die punches or automated punching systems.Thissystem is designed for large volume users who are looking for a fastway to bind documents that are editable and contemporary.TheProclick Pronto P2000 is ideal for printers, copy shops, in plantprinters and large corporations who need to bind large numbers ofdocuments quickly and either already own or have the budget to purchasea modular binding punch. Strengths / Features: TheProclick Pronto P2000 is incredibly fast as far as binding systems go.All you need to do is insert the document into the sizing channel andit will tell you the size of spine that you need. Once you are surethat you have the right size cartridge loaded into the machine yousimply place the document into binding slot. The machine will make surethat your holes are lined up and will then insert and close the spineonto your document. The bind cycle takes about six seconds. This meansthat you can finish as many as 450 documents per hour using thissystem. That is incredible. The P2000 is the size of desktoplaser printer and it looks like it belongs in an office environment. Many pieces of binding equipment look industrial and don't fit wellinside a professional office. The P2000 was designed with the officeenvironment in mind. It looks like a large desktop printer and issimple to operate. It even includes an easy to read LCD panel to letyou know the status of the machine. Many of the larger GBCmodular binding machines only come with a 90 day warranty. However, theProclick P2000 comes with a full one year on site warranty. This meansthat if your machine has a problem in the first year GBC will come toyour location and fix it for you. You can't ask for better service thanthat. The documents that are produced by the P2000 aredesigned to both look great and be editable. The Proclick bindingspines used to bind these documents can easily be zipped open andclosed using a simple zipper tool. This makes this binding system idealfor organizations with sales representatives that need to make changesto their documents in the field. It is also great for binding usersmanuals and other pieces of documentation that need to be updated on aregular basis. Weaknesses / Limitations: Oneof the main limitations of the Proclick Pronto binding machines is thatthey are only able to handle letter sized documents. Organizations thatuse oversized covers with their documents or need to bind documentswith a binding edge that is not eleven inches will not be able to usethis machine. There really isn't a way around this so it is somethingto keep in mind. The Proclick Pronto P2000 is also limited inthe sizes and colors of binding strips that it can use. Currently thereare three different sizes of spines for this machine: small (5/16"),medium (1/2") and large (5/8"). This allows you to use this machine tobind up to 100 sheets of 20lb paper. You can choose from four differentcolors which include: black, navy blue, white and frost. Organizationsthat need to bind documents larger than 5/8" or need a differentcolored binding spine will need to select a different binding system.AlthoughI already mentioned it, I will state it again. The P2000 does NOT havea binding punch. This machine is strictly a finishing unit and isdesigned to be used with a modular binding punch. Additionally, thebinding punch must have a special Proclick Pronto oversize square holedie set. Currently these die sets are only available for GBC modularpunches and I do not believe that Rhino-Tuff or Renz are planning onreleasing this dieset for their machines any time soon.Thesupplies for this machine must be purchased in special cartridges inorder to be used by this machine. It cannot be used with loose bindingspines or any other type of binding supplies. GBC is the only companythat makes supplies for this machine and the supplies can be difficultto find at a discount. Recommendation: The Proclick P2000 binding system offers one of the fastest binding experiences available from any binding style on the market.Documentsbound with this system also look great, offer the ability to completelywrap around and can be easily edited. These things are making Proclickone of the hottest new binding styles in the United States.Thismachine is a great choice for large organizations or print shops thateither already own a GBC modular binding punch or can justify thepurchase of a new binding punch. However, this is not a goodsystem for organizations that need to bind custom sized documents, needcustom colored binding spines or for companies who don't own a modularbinding punch.
