The Velobind V110e is an updated version of the GBC Velobind V110, anelectric punch designed for punching holes for four pin re-closableVelobind strips. The punch is a lower-cost alternative for companieswho like the look of GBC Velobind but don't want to spend over $1000 ona hot knife binding system. The V110e is an inexpensive binding systemwith a high-end look that makes it easy for the addition or removal ofpages. Features: The V110e uses a simple to operate push button punching control thatcan punch up to 24 sheets (actually more like 20) with a small fourhole round pattern - and impressive punching capacity for such aninexpensive electric machine. The punch also has a convenient jamrelease lever on its side to help with potential paper jams. Forprevention of paper jams, however, only punch 2 plastic covers at atime and don't overload the machine. This is critical to avoid delaysand to ensure that the V110 is working at maximum capacity andefficiency. The V110e includes a small re-closable Velobind bind andde-bind tool. This small gray plastic tool is used to push the pinsdown into the back of the receiving strip during the binding process. In addition, the tool can also be used to help you edit the bounddocuments if the pins are to be released later. This gives you theflexibility for editing your projects in a quick, easy and seamlessfashion. Limitations: The V110e can be very effective, but is not without limitations. Tobegin with, its just a punch, and doesn't include a finishing unit ofany kind, so inserting the four pin strips through the holes andsnapping them in place is a manual process. This isn't a problem forsmall volume projects, but is impractical and tedious for larger-volumeprojects. Punching large numbers of clear plastic covers or using thispunch too much may cause the dies to begin to dull. Unfortunately, thedies for this machine aren't replaceable, requiring the replacement ofthe entire machine if this occurs. A pre-punched plastic or poly coversis recommended with the V110e and luckily, the hole pattern for 11 pinVelobind is compatible with the four pin pattern used by the V110e sopre-punched items should be readily available. There are a limited number of supplies available for the V110e bindingsystem. Currently, four pin strips are available in Black; Navy Blueand White and Burgundy strips used to be available but are nowdiscontinued. If these three colors don't fit your needs then the V110eisn't a good fit for you. In addition, if you're looking for the security of a traditional hotknife Velobind system, then potentially, the V110e may not be thesystem that meets your needs. The V110e, with its re-closable strips,is by no means the perfect option for those seeking a great deal ofsecurity. Recommendation: If you like the look of Velobind and are looking for an economicalsolution then the V110e is the recommended option for you. It hasstyle, and function at a price you can afford. This machine is Idealfor organizations with low to medium amounts of binding work, or thoselooking for a highly professional looking, re-closable bindingsolution. If your needs include high security or high-volume however, the V110e may not be the best binder for you, with its limitations inthis area. Great value? Yes. Great Security? Not necessarily. But theGBC V110 electric is a good option and should be considered carefullyfor your binding needs. Article Tags: Velobind V110e, Binding System
