I've just recently returned from a week's holiday at Camp Eden, a holistic health retreat in Queensland.I'm sure many of you would have been there or know someone who has. It's a great place for a holiday time out just for yourself. For me it was an ideal break and had all the components of a 'holistic' retreat. And to top it all off, everything was organised. To cut a long story short, Camp Eden is for everyone. The very worst thing that will happen to you is you'll relax and lose weight! The program I booked in for was "Balance" which consisted of a personal development program, relaxation, exercise and fun. It was interesting to note that the majority of guests that week chose the same program. The group I was part of included a well-known AFL footballer, a shy accountant, a private investigator who was ready to self-destruct before he arrived, a smoke-a-holic, a computer consultant and a whole cross-section of the community. What was interesting was the change in each person by the end of the week. The footballer was super-energised to return to pre-season training, the shy accountant had become a daredevil, the private investigator realised what he had to do to tidy up his life, the smoke-a-holic for the first time since she could remember had not smoked for a week and felt the healthiest she had ever been and the IT consultant's pot belly had almost disappeared. When they left, they were all committed to continue making positive changes in their lives.Take Stock of Your LifeIn the personal development program, the presenter asked us to write down what we valued in life. We then had to rate the top five areas we valued most in our life, with the most important being no. 1.An example of this:HealthFamilyWealthCareerFriends He then asked us to draw a circle and section it off according to how much time we invested in these areas. In otherwords, what we do in reality. We then drew another circle showing how much time we want to be spending in these areas. For many people the first circle showing the reality of where they spent their time according to their top 5 values was totally out of whack with where they really wanted to be.The Moral To The StoryDo you say you want to get fit and healthy, yet eat lots of junk food and do little or no exercise?Do you dislike your job yet make no effort to improve it or find another one?Do you feel that you and your partner have grown apart and do nothing to either help you resolve your differences or break off the relationship?Do you want to be wealthier yet can't be bothered investing some time finding out how?Do you avoid doing what you need to because it's easier to do nothing? The Final WordI'd like to acknowledge my fellow campers for taking action and investing their own time and money in themselves. They realised they needed time out to reassess where they were going and what they were doing. They did what most people aren't prepared to do and that is .they took action! Is it time for you to participate in your life or do you prefer to be an observer? The choice is yours!Have a great week!Lorraine Pirihi
