We spend so much time trying to get the business up and running that we may end up becoming burned out and lose our motivation. There is so much to learn and
There arethree fundamental things you can acquire in a learning process: knowledge, skills and attitudes. Each one of these has its value, but as you progressivelymove from one to the next, youll find the value grows significantly. Havingknowledge means having the data. This is important, but in itself doesnt domuch for you. Aptitude (or skill) means having automatic, internalized ways ofdoing something that create results: from tying your shows to delivering aspeech.Your skillsdictate to a large extent how well you do something and thus, your performance. However, it is your attitude that fully makes skills come into play and has themost impact on your performance. Yourattitude refers to the way you perceive things and how you react emotionally tothem. It is a reflection of your thinking and your beliefs, at an emotionallevel. Heres why your attitude matters the most. First ofall, you can have the skills to do something, but without the proper attitude, you wont actually do it. You may be good at public speaking, but if you seeyourself as a bad speaker and youre afraid, you wont speak in public anyway. Even beforehaving a certain skill, attitude plays a vital role, because its what givesyou the courage and persistence to try something, to fail, to learn, to keep goingand eventually, acquire a certain skill. But if you lack the right attitude, youll never develop your skills. Last butnot least, attitude creates the emotional context for skills to run freely. Youmay be a good conversationalist but if the person youre talking withintimidates you, that skill wont surface and you may appear like a sociallyun-calibrated person. It is yourattitude that allows skills to develop and to come into action full throttle. This is why it is much more important than aptitude.
