If you and your friends had had hopscotch rugs, wouldnt you have had a lot of fun with them? Remember when you were young and that was all that you ever wanted to do? Hopscotch at school on the playground and then again when you got home, with grids drawn on your driveway. But, when it rained, it washed the grids away and you couldnt go out and play at all. Back then, if you would have had a rug to play on, you would have been thrilled, right? Why Hopscotch Rugs Can Be a Great Way to Connect with Your Kids Todays children might not play hopscotch as much as kids in the past. Schools are shortening the time kids get for recess as well as eliminating the time they get for gym classes. Budget cuts are leaving kids without playgrounds to play on. Hopscotch grids may fade off and never get repainted because eventually there will be a complete lack of demand for them. Some kids have never even heard of hopscotch! But, if you lay one of these rugs done, they will be interested, maybe even curious about the game. From the moment that you show them how to play, from the moment that you toss that first stone, you will have them. There is something incredibly magical about watching your parent do something from their own childhood, almost like they are a child once again. The homework and the housework can wait for an hour or so. Dinner can be held off. No one needs the same old boring television shows if you can get your mother giggling and laughing while she shows you how to play hopscotch. There are so many kids that have too many video games and movies to sit and watch. But, their little, young bodies are not meant to sit for hours on end doing nothing at all. They are energetic, and they want to move around. If you show them some of the games they can play indoors, they will. Blow up a balloon and show them how to play indoor volleyball. Let them build a fort with the couch cushions and pillows or make tents out of kitchen chairs and bed sheets. There are tons of things that you can do with your children, and they will thank you for it. Once you have your kids involved with some of the indoor games, you can hold your own version of the kids Olympics, using hopscotch and other easy to learn, enjoyable games. Invite other children over to play and hand out medals at the end of each event. Let hopscotch rugs be the starting point for more than just a single game- make it part of a new lifestyle.
