In ancient times over the period of 1000 years after the invention of church, there was no use of church furniture, but now a day there is an interaction between the people in the church so feeling like a family. In the ancient buildings of the church there was no furniture at all and the people remain stand over the whole prayer. There were no chairs and church pews, people were not bounded at one place but they can more freely where they want. Latter in 13th century there were benches that have no back and they were present against the walls. They were made up of stones. They were not fixed to the floor at first and they were present in the semi circle placement. Pews were introduced in 14th century, but they were not much popular until 15th century. Stones seats were replaced with the wooden benches that have back. In this period the invention of pulpit was take place in the church furniture. Changes were being made so that the people use the church pews to focus on the pulpit. The prayer was performed in a formal way. People just have to sit and listen to the recites. People did not have Bibles of their own. For the Christians pews are almost opposite of how they set their culture to be in worship. They give the people opportunity to worship of their own will.
