In ancient times churches were not only furnished with permanent pews. A pew is a long bench, mostly used in churches. It has capacity of many people to sit over here. Church pews are made up of wood. They are arranged in rows opposite to the altar. Usually there is a path in between the rows of pews to move forward or backward. There are also some sort of carpets and cushions over there but in the traditional churches, mostly there is not any carpet or the cushions. Pews are not permanent in the churches but in some of the churches they are permanently attached to the floor. In past, the pews that are permanently attached with the floor are very rare in the churches, however now a days as the sermons became the important part of the worship, church pews are the important part of the church furniture. In churches pews are placed in rows with the capacity of many people.Many of the pews have slots behind them. The Bible and many other religious books are placed there. Some pews are also equipped with kneels, for the traditional public kneeling prayers. These kneeled pews are placed in front of the seating benches so that the people can kneel over here instead of the floor. These kneeled pews are not permanent and can be moved away if they are not needed over there. Different type of pews decorations is also present in the market. Church pew of high quality is always preferred.
