One of the hardest things abouthaving a whiplash, it is getting to make your family and friends understandwhat it means to have a whiplash. There are 2 major reasons forwhich one should not exist in the world today but they unfortunately do. Being able to understand what awhiplash is and the consequences of having one, is really hard for many tocomprehend because whiplash is not something you when looking at the whiplash injured. The "only thing" youcan see is a person who is tired, lethargic, a person who is feeling ill and that is precisely what makes it difficultfor many to understand. The best that could happen to awhiplash injured is that besides having a whiplash, is having a second physicaldamage that can be seen. It sounds ludicrous, but people need something theycan see before they can understand it.! It also means that as a whiplashinjured in the beginning uses a lot of energy on defense, not only against themunicipality and insurance but also his or her friends and family. And this is where you as thewhiplash injured must choose your battles, because there are people like youcan´t convince that having a whiplash injury has big consequences. The reason I say you must chooseyour battles, is for one simple reason that there are people also in yourimmediate circle of friends and family who will not accept that you can be as injuredas you say when your whiplash isn´t something they can see. This is due not so much to bigotryas it´s due to lack of knowledge. The lack of knowledge is unfortunatelynot due to lack of education as it´s a result of prejudices from those that should help.!We still here in 2011, have doctors who refuses to accept that whiplash is a physical injury and not a psychic injury.!This means that these doctors who are employed by municipalities and in the public system or by insurance companies is deliberately working against the recognition of whiplash and the impact thatit has on a person. And this is where the battles must be fought, because if wedon´t stop these so called doctors, there will still be spread by prejudice rather than knowledge which in turn will unfortunately be a partof the factors that make it hard for your family and friends to understand the consequences you wrestle with every day..So choose your battles carefully.!
