Theres a train of thought out there among computer users. Its either Im a Mac, or Im a PC. Everyone knows that one cannot be switched to another; each has their own different features and negatives; and a person sometimes cannot send and/or receive things like documents and spreadsheets if they have come from a different model thats not the same machine as theirs. While this hasnt caused a huge problem for many, it does cause some confusion among those who want to run a website and want to use a Mac server to do it. Will the website be compatible with PCs? Or will the user be unable to use it because theyre using a completely different operating system?Luckily, the Internet does not care what type of machine or server you are running your website from. And it also doesnt care what type of machine people are using to get to your site. All the Internet, or more accurately the search engines, care about is that youre running your website through approved practices and that youre not trying to get your site ranked through illegitimate practices such as keyword stuffing. These practices that are thought to be somewhat shady by search engines could get your site penalized, or shut down altogether. But they are the only things that the search engines will be looking for not the make and model of your server. The Internet was created expressly for sharing everything! The sharing of information, the sharing of pictures, the sharing of files, all of it is possible through the Internet, and it does not discriminate. And its not just the make and model of your machine that anybody will be able to see. Even if you use Mac software, Mac resources, or anything else thats designed to be specifically used with Mac, any PC in the world will still be able to visit your website unless your website is currently shut down or not up and running yet. The only thing you wont be able to do if you want to run your website from a Mac web host is make changes or updates to it from a PC. Because the server youll be using will have to be a Mac server, it will not be compatible with any PC. This server has special software and hardware that is, just like all other Apple products, designed to be used only with other Mac devices. However, if you want to run a website from a Mac host, you probably already know this and wouldnt try to use a PC to make any changes, anyway. It is true. Usually, you wouldnt be able to do anything from a PC if it needs to connect to a Mac device. But this isnt the case when youre building a Mac website. Because it will simply be viewed, and not too much would be done with it from a users point of view, everyone will always be able to see all your hard work no matter what device theyre viewing it from.
