Traffic building and internet marketing in general are overcrowded by different myths. If you aren't seek for reliable information, you can easily fall into trap. The thing is that the most of this myths are consequences of internet rumors. There are a lot of website's owners without any experience. I don't know the reason behind spreading those myths, but I know one thing for sure - you have to avoid it.Here are some myths that I find to be completely wrong and can cause you more harm than good. Also, you could lose thousands of dollars because of them.Myth #1: You aren't allowed to ask for people's name and e-mailsThat is completely false and that is just another myth. In fact, I encourage you to do that. This myth was initiated by misinterpretation of AdWords. AdWords was warning people not to give away their contact details to everybody - and that is OK.If you are doing everything in a legitimate way, you will be fine and you won't see penalty. It's always good to write a special note saying something like: "Your privacy means everything to us. We will not give your contact details to anyone!". Also include your own contact page and privacy policy. That should present you as a reliable person.Myth #2: Social websites are destroying search enginesThis one is my favourite. I just can't see how this could be right. While I do understand that there are more and more people using Facebook and MySpace, I bet they use search engines for shopping and things like that. As long as there is Internet, search engines will live.The most important thing is not to trust everybody. A lot of people will do everything to grab your attention - even lie to you!
