Powerful leaders... breed leaders... They dont just maintainfollowers. Powerful leaders not only mentally assent to knowing the way ...theyactually go the right way. And trueleaders then pave the way to others. They duplicate themselves by educatingtheir protégé to carry on their deeds of valor and glory. Resounding successcan be achieved through leadership training by mentoring and life coachingwhile building skills. John C. Maxwell once said, A leader is one who knows the way,goes the way, and shows the way." I am deeply imploring you to take this by heart. 'A mediocre teacher tells. An excellent teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. A profound teacher inspires.'' Your main goal is to find people whom you want to win over,networking which I have indicated previously is an essential factor in life. Itdoes not matter how much you want it for them, you need to make them want it.Jesus said to not throw your pearls before swine. Mark Twain put it this way,Never try to teach a pig to sing. It just wastes your time and annoys thepig.'' Remember the time when we were children and we played follow theleader. The objective was to try yourvery best to do something the others couldnt do. You would try to climbhigher, leap farther, move quicker, be stronger anything to make your followersfail. That was the object of the game. We try differentiating ourselves fromthe mediocrity that others are so often plagued with thus self development andimprovement is necessary. The leaders are keen on the intent of performing in such a waythat others could not replicate. How canyou build leaders by continually putting them in situations where they fail! Apowerful leader does everything in his or her power to build other powerfulleaders. Im pretty sure that some modern day leaders have been to the followthe leader 101 class one way or another. I call this as the difference between addition and multiplication.Let's pick a number... say 5. 5 plus 5 is 10... Plus 5 is 15... Plus 5 is 20...plus 5 is 25. That is 5 steps. Now, bear with me ... lets do the same process again withmultiplication. 5 times 5 is 25 ... times 5 is 125 ... times 5 is 625 ... times5 is 3125 ... times 5 is 15,625! Its quite impressive! Justgoing 5 steps with addition ... we grew to 25. With multiplication we grew to 15,625. What if that was customers.... 25customers vs.15,625 customers? Wouldthat change your business? What if that was dollars. 25 dollars vs.15,625dollars? Would that change your bankbalance? What if that was team members ... 25 team members vs. 15,625 teammembers? Would that change your future? The difference between addition and multiplication is thatdifference between you being the only leader versus you building other leadersand duplicating your power! When youbuild others to be as strong as yourself you are replicating yourself and youwill exponentially see and feel the benefit. To build people you need to realize that it takes buildingblocks. Lets look at a few of thesebuilding blocks. Much like the building blocks of life itself, when people feelgood about themselves it reverberates through their work actions and its quiteapparent all throughout successful people. 'There are two things people want morethan sex and money ... praise and recognition." These are awesome building blocks. According to the U.S. Department of Labor ... 46% of those who quittheir jobs last year did so because they felt unappreciated. People want to berecognized! History tells us that a lot of people have gone a lot farther thanthey thought they could ... becausesomeone else thought they could. That is powerful leadership. Henry Ford once said ... "I am looking for a lot of men whohave an infinite capacity to not know what can't be done.'' Dont hold until someone becomes discouraged beforeyou decide to encourage them! This means you will have to be proactive notreactive and be a man of action. When I teach a sales training class ... one ofthe fundamental sessions is on answering objections. I ask people ... What isthe best way to answer an objection? The answer ... Before it comes up! So, whats the best way to fight offdiscouragement... before it comes up. Beproactive! The fundamental step in being a leader is to start thinking,acting and talking like one. Build people by illustrating action. Lead by example! NormanSchwarzkopf, a great military leader, once said ... "Leadership is apotent combination of strategy and character. But if you must be without one,be without the strategy.
