Google is becoming a household name. The term "Google" was originally "Googol", a term meaning the number "1" followed by 100 zeroes, created by prominent mathematician Edward Kasne.Google hosts and develops a number of internet-based services and products, and generates profit primarily from advertising through its Adwords program.You can not get on the internet and not see the word Google somewhere. Google's Wave was Google's in to social media, because social media is exploding across the world. FaceBook hit over 500 million profiles this year. Well, Google wanted to tap into that market, so they started a social media site called Wave. However, in August, 2010, they announced they were going to abandon it. In the same week they also announced they were going to purchase, for an undisclosed amount, the application named Slide.The owner of Google does not have to be left out of one of the greatest shifts in history. Google Wave did not make it but they found another way to tap in. Web 3.0 is already here and it is only going to get bigger. Well, as information and personal profiling is becoming more prevalent, Google will be able to capitalize on that data to help companies target market consumers.What does all this mean? We all fail at something in life. Even a giant company like Google, but what they did was found another way to tap into the social marketing platform. Google Wave may be gone but Google Slide will be here. If you have failed at something, that is okay. At least you tried.
