Back then, the women wore long, floor sweeping dresses. The length of the modern dress is extremely versatile and protean, usually depending on the taste of the designer. In fact not just the length, versatility is spread in all aspects of designing a proper gown and hence the present day dress comes in a variety of styles. Take for example a sleeveless gown. There are three types of sleeveless dresses existent, a Sheath dress, a Jumper dress and a Sundress. A Sheath dress comes without a seam at the waist. A Jumper is to be worn with a layered top while a Sundress is a gown stitched in any shape for an informal occasion.Dresses also come with a number of cuts and a wide range of necklines. A halter neck is a neck with a plunging V-line and straps that go around the neck. Theses are suitable for women who are on the heavier side of the weighing scale. An empire cut on the other hand is a type of neck/waistline in which the waistline is unusually higher than the natural waistline, creating the illusion of a length. Theses are appropriate for women with a short height and a heavy bottom. A dress is a common attire of the western culture and is soon gaining popularity in India. However, garbing a dress does not come naturally to Indian women and hence they end up making the most outrageous fashion fop as there exist. For example a skinny woman may end up wearing a V-neck which only makes her look more like a hanger of sorts, while a chubby one may wear a tube top making her truck look heavier than what it is. The best way to look good in a dress is to consult your designer before an important event and always wear a corset (a close fitting foundation garment which gives the torso a proper shape) beneath a dress.
