People join People ... they don't join businesses. There's never a need to know every last detail about your MLM Products. A lot of sincere, earnest people get into network marketing with the plan of learning everything they possibly can about their company's products or service. Some of them actually becoming an expert. Problem is, that is a total waste of time. If you were going to sell a product, it might make some sense. But this business is about building relationships rather than selling product ... because you are not a salesperson. If you try to get people to buy from you, then you are dead before you start. Even worse, you won't be able to train anyone else to sell a product. Selling isn't duplicatable. Instead, what you must do is become an expert on people, because in network marketing, people are your REAL product. Your real goal is to help people achieve their dreams in life. And that means you must understand them. You must build trust with them. You must build a relationship. That's the most important thing. So what you really need to get good at is relationship-building skills. Train yourself to be a great listener, so you understand exactly what the people you talk to want. Focus on helping them get it. To achieve their goals, they will buy your products ... if YOU have built that relationship with them.A lot of people start in network marketing with the idea that they want to get in position to make a lot of money. They've heard of people earning 7 figures a month. And it's true. It has happened. However, the key is to understand the numbers. A few years ago, a report was published about the accountant statements of 7 well-known, publicly-traded MLM companies. The report revealed that compensation play payout to reps ranged from a low of 25% of gross income to a high of about 42% of gross income. Think about this. You'll always have just a portion of profits to the distributor base. Let's call it 40%. If the company's top guy is earning $1 million a month, what does that mean? Wel, for their work. If that company pays out 40% of the gross the fact is, the LESS that heavy hitter is paid, the MORE that the part-timers get paid. And those folks account for 95% of everybody in MLM, and they are the ones who have the dream. People get so excited when someone gets a huge paycheck. However, it may mean you actually have LESS chance to earn a good check. You can find these ideas, plus a lot more, in "Success in 10 Steps", a free download describing the pitfalls of MLM and how to be successful anyway. The 10-step system in the book shows how to build a strong team through long-term relationships and how to avoid becoming an expert on MLM products. It's a free download, and you can use the book as part of a very inexpensive lead-generation system offered by the author, Michael Dlouhy. The reason it has such a strong impact is that so many people want the benefits of MLM, but they've just never had the real-life success that they want. Dlouhy shows exactly why that is, and exactly what you need to do to achieve long-term success. The opportunity to then turn around and use the book as your own lead generator is a real bonus.
