Five,Things,NOT,When,Starting, DIY Five Things NOT to do When Starting a Home Business
When starting a new work at home business it is very easy to become consumed by it. We spend so much time trying to get the business up and running that we may end up becoming burned out and lose our motivation. There is so much to learn and Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable{mso-style-name:"Table Normal";mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0;mso-tstyle-colband-size:0;mso-style-noshow:yes;mso-style-parent:"";mso-padding-alt:0in
I know what your thinking but this is not another marketingerrors people make article. Im not going to tell you howugly and annoying your website is or that even your ownmother wouldnt buy from you with that horrible sales letter. What Im going to help you with may be common sense to somebut it may be eye-opening for others. I have learned from mymistakes (hopefully) and Im going to pass on my new foundknowledge.1. Dont put an ad on an FFA site with your business e-mailaddress (or your personal address or your e-zine subscriptionaddress or any other address that you read regularly). You will wade through a gazillion e-mails. Now that I havethat basement full of Viagra, I have my 12 credit cards, 3rd and 4th mortgages, and all the businesses going that I can (and sometimes cant) handle, I dont need to read all of the conformation of posting to my FFA site messages. Now dontget me wrong, they do have a great use. I do scan them to catchthe headlines that grab me, and if Im looking for a certainthing, I may scan for that too. But do yourself a favor, geta free junkmail address so you wont be looking for customerse-mails, or urgent mail.2. Dont sign up for every free program out there. In order to be successful in an online business, you must knowyour business, inside and out. How can you possibly spendenough time learning about 10 different programs so that youcan promote, answer questions and be loyal enough to standbehind them? Spread yourself too thin and you will start toforget things, skip important training, not reply to messagesin a timely manner. I dont know how many times I have saidthat I have too many irons in the fire. I have narrowed downthe programs I am involved in. I stuck with the cream of thecrop. I stay much nicer that way.3. Dont believe everything you read.I love the line from the Billy Crystal movie I just saw called61*. Micky Mantel says Well, they said so on TV so it mustbe true. There are some unscrupulous marketers out there, promising all kinds of impossible dreams, schemes, and riches.Use your common sense. No one can make a million dollarsdoing nothing, you cant eat, shop and advertise and get paidenough to do it to make a living. You must sell something, either your knowledge, services, or products. And you might be able to eventually start receiving residuals for doingnothing, but my guess is that you started doing SOMETHING first.4. Never talk bad about your competitors.Instead, talk up your business. You can point out what youhave, do or guarantee that your competitors dont withoutnaming names. Pointing fingers will only make you lookunprofessional and trivial. Benefits sell, not negativecomments and bashing others.5. Dont give up.Now this doesnt mean that you should forgo paying for yourmortgage so that you can buy advertising. If you think thatbecause you have placed your 10 ads, you have put up a websiteand you have made your banner and still didnt become rich, you should quit, your mistaken. Anything worth doing is worthdoing well. You might need to continue working at your J.O.B.until you start bringing in enough with your own business toreach your inner income goals. Thats ok, youre working towardsyour goals and thats positive. Regardless of what the hypesays, you cant become wealthy overnight and by doing nothing. I hope my opinions have at the very least, given you somethingto think about.
