We spend so much time trying to get the business up and running that we may end up becoming burned out and lose our motivation. There is so much to learn and
I know what you are thinking. Surely this is impossible. How could anyone learn to accomplish more in half the time? This must be a hoax. Hmmm! But, it sure would be nice if I could do that. Well, you can! If it worked for me, surely it will work for you.Let me explain.About a year ago I decided to start my own online business. This was a new experience for me. I knew absolutely nothing about running a business. However, I consider myself to be a lifelong learner and believe that anyone can learn to do just about anything if they set their mind to do so. With that in mind, I began to research and collect information on starting and running an online business. Needless to say that I was attending graduate school fulltime and consulting at the time. These three tasks proved to be more than I could handle. I won't go into great detail about how I became overwhelmed. But, I was spending an average of 16 hours per day reading and researching information on the Internet for my new online business and reading & writing for my graduate courses and consulting contracts. After 2 months, I was at the point of desperation. Tired! Agitated! Frustrated! Stressed! My body felt totally depleted. Oh, the pressure! Too much to do, too little time to do it. Was I ready to give up on my dream of owning my own online business? No! Was I ready to give up on my dream of finishing graduate school? No! Could I relinquish my consulting contracts? No! I had to eat and pay my bills. What could I do? Where could I turn? I knew I had to find a solution.Well, time management and prioritizing was not the answer. I was successfully incorporating all of the tips, techniques, and strategies that I learned over the years. And still I was spending the majority of my day (about 12 hours) on what I would consider NECESSARY reading. Not to mention the time that I had to spend recalling, synthesizing, and writing (about 4 hours). To make a long story short, I decided to solicit the advice of a friend who is a Reading Specialist in our local school district She suggested that I learn speed reading techniques. Of course I had never heard of speed reading so I was a bit apprehensive. But then I thought...What the heck! What could I lose? She recommended Howard Berg's Mega Speed Reading. After filling me in on the details of Howard Berg and his Speed Reading Program, she gave me his literature and I ordered the program. It came with an unconditional money back guarantee. How could I go wrong? If it didn't work, I would send it back. And the verdict is....Wow! It only took me 4 hours to learn the techniques. Yippy! I could speed read. Quick! Easy! It was actually fun. I was ecstatic. I didn't know whether to laugh or to cry. It really worked! Within 2 weeks of implementing the Mega Speed Reading techniques I cut my reading time in half. The program also taught me how to increase my comprehension and memory.I was able to read all of those web pages, ebooks, reports, articles, and magazines in record time.In a nutshell, I got more work done in half the time. There was no more desperation, agitation, frustration, or stress. I became a happy and successful entrepreneur. What Did I Learn? When faced with a challenge, don't give up. Challenges will come (especially if you're starting a business). You must overcome the challenge in order to be successful. Face the challenge head on. Use your challenge as a learning experience. Don't stop until you find a solution to a challenge. Your success depends upon it.At the end of every challenge there is a lesson to be learned and shared with others.
